Before & After School Care

Trojan Extended Day

Lower School Trojan Extended Day, also called “TED,” provides a safe, creative, and positive before and after school environment for TVS students in grades K-4. TED time prioritizes play (indoors and outdoors), but also includes homework and snack time. Cynthia Davis, TED Program Coordinator, leads the caring extended care team.

TED occurs Monday through Friday in the TVS Dining Hall. Before school care runs from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. for K-4. After school care for Pre-K and Kindergarten students runs from 2:45 p.m. to no later than 6:15 p.m. After school care for grades 1-4 runs from 3:30 p.m. to no later than 6:15 p.m.

TED also provides full-day care options on many of the TVS school holidays.

Trojan Supervised Study (TSS)

Middle School Trojan Supervised Study, also called “TSS,” provides students in grades 5-8 with a safe, quiet, and structured environment to complete homework, study for assessments, and further develop organizational skills. Middle School teachers from varying subject areas provide both academic and organizational support with a small student to teacher ratio.

TSS occurs Monday through Friday in a Middle School classroom. Students report to the TSS location after school and remain there until they are picked up, no later than 5:45 pm.

General questions about these programs may be directed to Nicole Forbes, Director of Extracurricular Programs, at or 817-321-0122.

Students may be enrolled for Extended Day for full-year or drop-in care. Full care means that your child will likely attend TED every day throughout the school year. Drop-in care means your child might attend TED once per week or on occasion throughout the school year. Once you have registered online, you will receive confirmation about your enrollment.

Arrival and Departure

It is our responsibility to know where all Extended Day participants are after school. TED staff has access to Lower School attendance records each day and also has information about any extended care students who may participate in extracurricular programs that are offered each semester.

Children in grades preK-1 will be escorted to TED after school. Students in grades 2-4 are allowed to walk themselves to the Dining Hall, but are asked to report immediately after school to this location. TED staff record attendance, marking each student present. When a child is picked up from the TED Program, the parent or other authorized person (ex. babysitter, older sibling, grandparent) signs the child out by writing their initials in the sign-out sheet. Persons other than parents who are authorized to pick up the child are listed when you register online.

For the TSS program, students should report immediately after school to the designated classroom. Parents, or other authorized adults, are asked to pick up students in the TSS classroom. Alternately, the parent may text his/her child upon arrival at the school for pick up and the student will be released by the teacher.

Schedule Changes

We realize that family schedules may shift throughout the year, and result in a need to change your extended day schedule. If you wish to make a change, please contact Nicole Forbes via email at

Students are always welcome to drop-in for TED and TSS. If possible, we appreciate parents’ notifying us by 10:00 am the morning of intended drop-in care. Please email

Health and Food

If your child becomes sick at Extended Day, one of the staff members will call parents and request that the child be picked up as soon as possible.

Medications must go through the school nurse.

Nutritious, allergy-aware snacks are served during Trojan Extended Day. Students are welcome to bring their own snacks as well.

We care deeply about the health and well-being of students in our care. Please discuss with Extended Day staff any special dietary needs or allergies that your child may have so that we can ensure a safe environment.
