TVS joins our Black/African American families in celebrating this historic day—JUNETEENTH!
TVS joins our Black/African American families in celebrating this historic day—JUNETEENTH!

On Wednesday, Upper School students and staff shared personal stories about what Juneteenth means to them and their families, and we discussed the history and significance of this holiday (an official holiday in Texas since 1980). It was the third consecutive week of discussions our Unity Club and Student Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee members and some faculty & staff have had about the Black Lives Matter movement in our communities.

Historically, it is clear that emancipation was just the beginning of justice for Black/African American men, women, and children, and as a community we want to support our students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff as this struggle for equity and justice continues today.

Students/Faculty/Staff who would like to participate in future discussions are invited to contact Dr. Roemer (roemerm@trinityvalleyschool.org).
