The Election by Don Zolidis will be the first production of the new school year presented by The TVS Players of the Upper School. The play, set in a high school, tells the story of two seniors locked in a fierce battle for student body president. It is a very funny (and very timely) parody of campaigns and the election process. Performances are set for October 15-18, 2020.
The play was in rehearsal earlier this year and was scheduled to be performed this past March, but it was postponed when the campus was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Some roles will have to be recast as they were being played by seniors who have since graduated. Auditions for available parts are open now to all TVS Upper School students. An announcement, with detailed instructions of how to audition online, was emailed to students earlier this week. Any questions should be directed to TVS Upper School Theatre Director, Mr. Gene Sessa, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
At this time the TVS Players are considering the possibility of performing the play in an outdoor space on campus, where both actors and audience can socially distance. If that cannot happen, various online options will be explored for the performances.
The musical Bright Star was cast with TVS Upper School students at the start of the summer and was originally set to be performed in mid-October, but due to the pandemic it has been postponed until next semester. It is now scheduled for March 25-28, 2021.
