Kindergarten applicants participate in an age appropriate assessment with Mrs. Kay Newton, former TVS kindergarten teacher. This "visit" lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour and begins by picking out a special animal chair in our safari-themed testing room. Parents will have the opportunity to talk and/or tour with a TVS host.
We are excited to announce that we will be using a new, developmentally appropriate assessment for prospective students applying to kindergarten. The Admission Assessment for Beginning Learners (AABL) is an engaging, interactive, tablet-based (iPad) evaluation that provides insight into a child’s abilities with regard to reasoning and achievement. Please take a moment to visit ERB online. This website provides a comprehensive overview of the assessment as well as a demonstration video.
Cooperative Testing: Trinity Valley School cooperates with three other independent schools - All Saints’ Episcopal School, Fort Worth Academy, and Fort Worth Country Day - in sharing joint admissions policies, calendar, testing and notification dates. Admissions candidates who are applying to more than one of these schools should schedule the admissions testing at one school and request that the test scores are sent to the other school(s). To be considered for admission at any other school, candidates must also file applications with those schools.
For kindergarten admission, siblings of currently enrolled students and children of Trinity Valley School graduates or faculty/staff members receive an early admission decision; however, school policy states that no more than two-thirds of the kindergarten class may be filled by early decision. This policy ensures that there will always be openings for families new to the school.
