GLOBAL CONNECTIONS FOR TVS!

From April 23-28, Dr. Roemer participated in the European Teachers Education Network conference (TVS is the only K-12 school in this incredible organization), where he networked with education leaders from Europe, China, and the USA and invited education majors to complete their final teaching internships at TVS. Three wonderful student teachers from Denmark worked with our teachers in the Lower and Middle Schools last fall, and we look forward to continuing this exchange of ideas and experiences for our students and teachers. In Belgium, Dr. Roemer also visited K-6 and 7-12 schools to seek “virtual partnerships” so our students can learn with kids in various parts of the world via the Internet (see www.trinityvalleyschool.org/gip for current and past examples with schools in Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the U.K, and Argentina).

Then, from May 5-9, Dr. Roemer spent time in our Sister City of Toluca, Mexico to strengthen ties with Tec de Monterrey (the high school that sent students to TVS last Nov/Dec and will send more next year) and to visit two new schools—both Pre-K-8. The goals of the trip were to reinforce our partnership with Tec de Monterrey and visit the Tec campuses and to find new schools for our Lower and Middle School students that might be interested in initiating virtual exchanges. While there, Dr. Roemer was invited to join a Fort Worth Sister Cities International delegation and spend time with the Toluca mayor, City Council members, and other city and state leaders to discuss education, politics, economics, and sustainability. He stayed with a wonderful host family and made many new friends for TVS.

Stay tuned for new exchanges in the upcoming years!
